Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;
Likewise deacons must be reverent, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy for money,
Deacons likewise must be men of dignity, not double-tongued, or (not) addicted to much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain,
Deacons, likewise, are to be men worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain.
In like manner the deacons [must be] worthy of respect, not shifty and double-talkers but sincere in what they say, not given to much wine, not greedy for base gain [craving wealth and resorting to ignoble and dishonest methods of getting it].
Deacons, in like manner [should] be grave and dignified, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, not greedy of gain,
Deacons, similarly, should be men of serious outlook and sincere conviction. They too should be temperate and not sordidly greedy for profit.
Deacons, too, must be serious, sincere in their talk (or, not double-worded), not addicted to strong drink or dishonest gain,
