Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

Therefore, brethren, we are debtors - not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh.

So then, brethren, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh -

Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation - but it is not to the sinful nature [flesh], to live according to it.

So then, brethren, we are debtors, but not to the flesh [we are not obligated to our carnal nature], to live [a life ruled by the standards set by the dictates] of the flesh.

So then, brethren, we are those under obligation, not to the sinful nature to live habitually under the dominion of the sinful nature.

So then, my brothers, you can see that we owe no duty to our sensual nature, or to live life on the level of the instincts.

So, brothers, we are under obligations, but not to our lower nature to live by the standard set by it;
