And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place.

So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh at that place.

So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs (or, took parts of the man’s side) and closed up the place with flesh.
The Amplified Bible

And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam; and while he slept He took one of his ribs or a part of his side and closed up the [place with] flesh.
