But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are all illegitimate and not sons.

But if you are without discipline, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons.

If you are not disciplined (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true sons.

Now if you are exempt from correction and left without discipline in which all [of God's children] share, then you are illegitimate offspring and not true sons [at all].

But if you are without discipline, correction, and guidance, of which all [sons] have been made partakers, it follows therefore that you are bastards and not sons.

For if you had no experience of the correction which all sons have to hear you might well doubt the legitimacy of your sonship.

Now if you are without any discipline, in which all true sons share, you are only illegitimate children and not true sons.
