If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.

An elder must be blameless, the husband of but one wife, a man whose children believe and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient.

They were to be men of unquestioned integrity with only one wife, and with children brought up as Christians and not likely to be accused of loose living or law-breaking.
each elder must be above reproach, have only one wife, and his children must not be liable to the charge of profligacy or disobedience.
