Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.

not because we do not have authority, but to make ourselves an example of how you should follow us.

not because we do not have the right to this, but in order to offer ourselves as a model for you, that you might follow our example (imitate us).

We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to make ourselves a model for you to follow.

[It was] not because we do not have a right [to such support], but [we wished] to make ourselves an example for you to follow.

not because we do not have a right [to be financially supported in our work by you] but in order that we might give ourselves to you as a pattern for you to emulate.

This was not because we had no right to ask our necessities of you, but because we wanted to set you an example to imitate.

Not that I have no right to be supported, but to make myself an example for you to follow.
