And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,

And do not get drunk with wine, for that [in which] is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,

Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.

And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but ever be filled and stimulated with the [Holy] Spirit.

And stop being intoxicated with wine, in which state of intoxication there is profligacy. But be constantly controlled by the Spirit,

Don't get your stimulus from wine (for there is always the danger of excessive drinking), but let the Spirit stimulate your souls.

Stop getting drunk on wine, for that means profligacy, but ever be filled with the Spirit,
