Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

Therefore the Law has become our tutor (child-conductor) to lead us to Christ, that we may be justified by faith.

So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ (or, until Christ came) that we might be justified by faith.

So that the Law served [to us Jews] as our trainer [our guardian, our guide to Christ, to lead us] until Christ [came], that we might be justified (declared righteous, put in right standing with God) by and through faith.

So that the law became our guardian until Christ, in order that on the grounds of faith we might be justified;

The Law was like a strict tutor in charge of us until we went to the school of Christ and learned to be justified by faith in Him.

So the law has been our attendant to lead us to Christ, so that we might through faith obtain right standing with God.
