But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name:

Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God -

But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the authority (power, privilege, right) to become the children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name -

But as many as appropriated Him, He gave them a legal right to become born-ones of God, to those who place their trust in His name,

Yet wherever men did accept Him He gave them the power to become sons of God. These were the men who truly believed in Him,

But to all who did accept Him, and trust in His name, He gave the right to become the children of God,
