Luke 16:8


KJV
And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.

NKJV
"So the master commended the unjust steward because he had dealt shrewdly. For the sons of this world are more shrewd in their generation than the sons of light.

NASB
"And his master (lord) praised the unrighteous steward because he had acted shrewdly; for the sons of this age are more shrewd in relation to their own kind (generation) than the sons of light.

NIV
"The master commended the dishonest manager because he had acted shrewdly. For the people of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own kind than are the people of the light.

Amp.
And [his] master praised the dishonest (unjust) manager for acting shrewdly and prudently; for the sons of this age are shrewder and more prudent and wiser in [relation to] their own generation [to their own age and kind] than are the sons of light.

Wuest
And the master praised the estate-manager whose character was that of one who violates both law and justice with impunity, because he acted shrewdly with his own best interests in mind, that praise being in view of the fact that the sons of the spirit of this age are shrewder in their dealings with their own kind that the sons of the light.

Now the master praised this rascally agent because he had been so careful for his own future. For the children of this world are considerably more shrewd in dealing with their contemporaries than the children of light.

And his master praised the dishonest manager, because he acted with shrewd business sense. For the men of the world act with more business sense toward their fellows than the men who enjoy spiritual light.
