He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

"And the one on whom seed was sown among the thorns, this is the man who hears the word, and the worry of the world (age), and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.
The one who received the seed that fell among the thorns is the man who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke it, making it unfruitful.
As for what was sown among thorns, this is he who hears the Word, but the cares of the world and the pleasure and delight and glamour and deceitfulness of riches choke and suffocate the Word, and it yields no fruit.
And he who was sown as seed into the midst of the thorns, this is he who hears the Word, and the worries of this age and the deceitfulness of its wealth combine to utterly choke the Word, and he becomes unfruitful.
The seed sown among the thorns represents the man who hears the message and then the worries of this life and the illusions of wealth choke it to death and so it produces no 'crop' in his life.
And what was sown among the thorns illustrates the man who hears the message, and the worries of the times and the pleasures of being rich choke the truth out, and he yields no fruit.
