Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

Jesus said to him, "It is written again, 'You shall not tempt (test) the Lord your God.'"

Jesus said to him, "On the other hand, it is written, 'You shall not put the Lord your God to the test (or, tempt the Lord your God).'"

Jesus answered him, "It is also written: 'Do not out the Lord your God to the test.'"

Jesus said to him, On the other hand it is written also, You shall not tempt, test thoroughly or try exceedingly the Lord your God.

Jesus said to him, On the other hand, it has been written and at present is on record, You shall not put the Lord your God to an all-out test.

"Yes," retorted Jesus, "and the Scripture also says, 'Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.'"

Jesus said to him, "Again the Scripture says, 'You must not try the Lord your God.'"
